Aced Poker Review

Aced is part of the Merge Network, a poker network known for its great offer of poker freerolls. There is a $50 freeroll every 4 hours. Each week Merge hosts two freerolls worth $2,000 and $10,000 respectively. The freerolls are attracting novice players and this fact implies a loose gameplay sometimes. But that doesn't mean tons of fish of course.

Aced has introduced a VIP program that rewards regular poker players. There are four VIP levels: Clubs Level, Hearts Level (points required: 5,000), Spades Level (10,000 points) and Diamonds Level (Reserved for Aced.com Top Players). Starting with the Hearts level, you are receiving an entry into monthly $50,000 freeroll. Spades Level has a 5% discount on store orders and an entry into $2000 and $1000 weekly tournaments.

Aced also offers Bounty Poker Tournaments. While playing in such a tournament a percentage of the prize pool is put on each player's head. Knock a player out and you'll get his bounty. The rest of the prize pool is paid out like in normal tournaments.

Bad Beat Jackpot: on specially labelled ring games, 50c from each pot will contribute to a Bad Beat Jackpot worth thousands of dollars!

Software and Playability

Aced is different from other poker rooms in terms of software interface. The tabbed interface will please your eyes from the first moment when you log in. Even thouh, you can display game tables as a 2x2 grid (this is changed in Settings). You can also resize the game tables. Notice that the lobby is not resizable, but you can maximize it to full screen (even the taskbar is hidden in this mode).

I found out that the Esc key is not closing the Settings window, and the Ctrl+W do not close the game table I'm playing at. I suggest to endow the interface with more keyboard shortcuts in the future.

A useful feature is the buddy list: it helps you track your contacts. Another nice addition is the animated images feature that mimics the chat messages. For ex: when a player says "Hi" in chat, a nice smiley icon appears. When saying "shark", a shark that devours a small fish.

Deal it Twice: in certain ring games, the option to deal both turn and river cards twice will be available in two player, all-in circumstances.

Game Variety & Limits

Aced offers a wide variety of games, including Draw (Five Card Draw, Triple Draw) and Stud Poker (Caribbean Stud, Five Card Stud, Seven Card Stud, Seven Card Stud Hi/Lo, Razz). It also hosts Casino games, Video Poker, Backgammon an Euchre. Euchre is a popular trick-taking card game that is played world wide and is the newest side game offered by Aced. However, Holdem and Omaha are the only games that have a lot of traffic.

It turns out that Aced is a good place for low limit NL Holdem poker players. $.10/$.25 NL hold-em tables are the most popular. Both Limit and NL Holdem have the highest stakes set at $50/$100.
